Google Stadia is Google’s take on a streaming service, featuring the ability to stream games in 4 K from a Chrome browser. Accessible to stream on devices including Android (and eventually iOS) phones, laptops, tablets, and televisions via Chromecast Ultra, Google Stadia replaces the traditional game console. You have access to some of the biggest AAA games on the service, including Mortal Kombat 11, Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, and Darksiders Genesis, and updates are done on the server-side. Hence, you never have to wait until playing your games.
Stadia is one of the most competitive game-streaming services online, but we would also recommend waiting before receiving a more robust game lineup. Still, if you don’t own a typical console, it’s a fast way to hop into AAA gaming, and you can cancel your membership if you decide it isn’t for you. You can currently use the free version, which caps the games at 1080p resolution. The Pro-choice costs $10 a month and allows 4 K streaming, along with a library of “free games” per month and discounts.
In its collection, which is limited to just over a hundred games, Stadia’s main problem is a tough sell when dealing with entire libraries of thousands of PS4 and Xbox One games. It is, however, comparable to the services of those platforms, PS Now and Xbox Game Move, at least in terms of price.
